In grateful recognition of their inspiring leadership in support of equality and basic rights for the LGBTQ community by pushing back when first denied a place in the Medford Pear Blossom Parade and successfully organizing subsequent Pride events that bring all human rights allies together in the work for justice, inclusion, equity and love we declare SOUTHERN OREGON PRIDE Oregon Action Community Social Justice Champion.

Peace House is proud to recognize and honor Gina DuQuenne for raising the visibility, the confidence, and the acceptance of LGBTQ people in the Rogue Valley. Through her skillful guidance of Southern Oregon Pride and the it has held annually in Ashland since 2010, she has inspired this city to proclaim publicly its commitment to human equality.
Ashland, OR (September 3, 2010) - Southern Oregon Pride, in partnership with the Lotus Rising Project, will celebrate our regional Seventh Annual Gay Pride on Saturday, October 9, 2010. All events are open to the public. Starting with a Kick-off Celebration at the Ashland Springs Hotel on Friday, October 8, 2010, Senator Alan Bates and other local dignitaries will preside over festivities where guests will enjoy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. Tickets to this event are $20.00 for individuals, $35.00 for couples, and $15.00 for student and senior prices. Kick-off tickets can be purchased at Paddington Station and Music Coop in Ashland or Father and Son Jewelers in Medford.
On Saturday several more events are planned at various venues in Ashland. From 11 am to 5 pm there will be a free Booth Fair with vendors and information booths located in the Claycomb Plaza Mall parking lot at 40 North Main Street. At noon everyone is invited to march in the 2010 Pride Parade. We will march down East Main Street in Ashland to promote equality, peace and basic rights for all. Bill Rauch, the Artistic Director of the Oregon Shakespeare, will be our Grand Marshal. There is no charge. Once we reach the Bandshell in Lithia Park there will be entertainment by the bands, Rogue Suspects and Blue Lightning, as well as entertainment by Karen Lovely.
