2012 Pride Events

5:30 PM to 6:30 PM Trans Talk:
A Transgender peer support group that meets weekly to talk about all things related to trans identities. This is open to all respectful individuals who are trans, questioning, and/or supporting trans friends.

Location: Rogue River Room, Stevenson Union, Southern oregon University in Ashland, OR.

Peace House's 30th anniversary dinner, Celebrate Peace 2012, will include two bars, a catered sit-down dinner, entertainment, remarks from three local Peacemaker honorees. Medea Benjamin will give the keynote address and receive the Marjorie Kellogg National Peacemaker Award.

Southern Oregon University's Lavender Graduation Awards Ceremony offers us an opportunity to recognize and honor the lives and achievements of our lesbian, gay, bisexual, queer, trans, genderqueer, intersex, and allied students. The ceremony provides a positive celebration of their accomplishments and offers an official recognition of the work they have done throughout their time at SOU.

In addition, this event is an opportunity to publicly recognize and thank all those who have contributed their time and energy to strengthening and enriching our diverse community. Graduates will receive a certificate of achievement and a rainbow honor cord.

7:00 PM to 10:00 PM 3rd Annual Bodacious Rainbow Ball:
Benefit for Lotus Rising


Music will be provided by theBlue Lightning Dance Bandfor this tobacco, alcohol, and drug free event. Child care will be available.

Proceeds from the ball will benefit Lotus Rising Project, a youth led social justice organization. Not-Straight-Not-Sure, the local youth group for those with diverse sexualities and gender identifies; Southern Oregon's Gay-Straight Alliance Support Network; and the Teen Theater Program are programs run by Lotus Rising Project.

   Students - $5.00
   Children under 12 - free


The ball is sponsored by the Rogue Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and co-sponsored by Lotus Rising Project, PFlag of Grants Pass, Rogue Valley Lavender Womyn, Southern Oregon Pride, SOU Queer Resource Center, and the United Church of Christ - Ashland.

This event will be 21+ (The Playwright will be creating a special Ovaries drink at their bar and will be donating 1/2 of the profits made back to our cause!)
