About the event
In November of 1998, four weeks after the murder of a young gay student named Matthew Shepard, Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theatre Project traveled to Laramie, Wyoming to collect interviews that might become material for a play. Two years later they had created a clear and honest portrait of a town caught up in this life-changing event. Since being published, The Laramie Project has become one of the Top Ten produced plays in many high schools and theaters across the country. It deals frankly with heart, humor and honesty presenting all points of view surrounding the incident.
